Slovenska turistična organizacija in Zavod Tovarna trajnostnega turizma sta Občini Kamnik podelila znak Slovenia Green Destination Gold. Občina Kamnik je sicer leta 2016 pridobila srebrni znak zelene destinacije, v postopku obnovitve znaka pa je v letu 2019 ocenjevalna komisija sklenila, da je Kamnik ena izmed ocenjevanih destinacij, ki je »najbolj napredovala« in si zato zasluži zlati znak. Do takrat je zlati znak Slovenia Green Destination imelo šest destinacij Ljubljana, Podčetrtek, Bled, Rogaška Slatina, Komen in Miren Kras.

Slovenska turistična organizacija znak Slovenia Green Destination podeljuje na osnovi Zelene sheme slovenskega turizma. Gre za sistem namenjen pospeševanju razvoja trajnostnega turizma na okoljskem, družbenem in ekonomskem področju. Občina Kamnik je od leta 2016 imela srebrni znak, v postopku ponovnega ocenjevanja, ki se je začel konec leta 2018, pa je napredovala v zlati znak. Pri pridobitvi znaka se ocenjuje številna področja, med drugim ravnanje z odpadki in odplakami, ravnanje z naravnimi površinami, osveščenost prebivalcev in turistov, kvaliteta vode, občutek varnosti in drugo.

Zelena shema slovenskega turizma (ZSST) je sistem oziroma certifikacijska shema, ki pod krovno »marelo« znamke SLOVENIA GREEN (1) združuje vsa prizadevanja za trajnostni razvoj turizma v Sloveniji, (2) destinacijam in ponudnikom ponudi konkretna orodja za oceno in izboljšanje trajnostnega delovanja, (3) skozi znamko SLOVENIA GREEN pa to zeleno delovanje tudi promovira.

»Izjemno sem ponosen, da je Občina Kamnik v teh štirih letih napredovala v zlati znak Slovenia Green Destination,« je ob tem dejal župan Občine Kamnik Matej Slapar in dodal: »To je dodatna potrditev, da vsi skupaj tako pri razvoju turizma kot celotne občine stopamo po poti ustvarjanja celostne zelene destinacije. Gre za trajni projekt in odgovornost vseh deležnikov na celotnem območju. Je pa to tudi obveza za naprej, za doseganje novih trajnostno naravnanih produktov in doživetij.

Napredovanje v zlati znak Slovenia Green Destination vidim predvsem kot odlično delo zelene ekipe, ki je vodila postopek, ekipe Zavoda za turizem, šport in kulturo Kamnik, ki je pri tem sodelovala, ter vseh ostalih vključenih deležnikov. To je dodatno priznanje, da smo pri razvoju turizma na pravi poti in da Kamnik je prepoznan kot zelena destinacija. Ob tem se zahvaljujem vsem turističnim ponudnikom, ki nam sledijo na tej poti, in vsem, ki so v postopku obnovitve znaka sodelovali. Z razvojem zelenega turizma bo Občina Kamnik še bolj prepoznana na domačem in tujem trgu. Moramo pa se zavedati, da je trajnostni razvoj pot in ne cilj. Sam verjamem, da na tem področju lahko dosežemo še več.«

Izjemen prispevek k zelenemu trajnostnemu Kamniku prinašajo tudi ekološko usmerjene Terme Snovik, ki so že pred leti kot prve v Sloveniji prejele okoljski znak EU marjetica, na Dnevih slovenskega turizma pa tudi znak Slovenia Green Accommodation. V letu 2020 pa je mednarodno priznani okoljski znak Zeleni ključ pridobil tudi ponudnik namestitev v kočah na Veliki planini Pravljica na Veliki planini, katere lastnik je Rok Virag.

Postopek obnovitve znaka je vodila zelena ekipa, ki jo je usmerjala in usklajevala Nina Irt, zelena koordinatorka na Zavodu za turizem, šport in kulturo Kamnik. V postopku obnovitve znaka je bilo potrebno zbrati podatke številnih javnih služb, podjetij, javnih zavodov, turističnega gospodarstva in tudi prebivalcev, obiskovalcev ter turistov. Za pridobitev zlatega znaka Slovenia Green Destination morajo destinacije izpolnjevati mednarodno primerljive kriterije Green Destinations Standard, namen takšnega priznanja pa je spodbujanje trajnostnega razvoja turizma v Sloveniji v okviru Zelene sheme slovenskega turizma, ki so jo zasnovali na Slovenski turistični organizaciji z Zavodom Tovarna trajnostnega turizma.

»Zlati znak Slovenia Green Destination kaže, da je občina Kamnik usmerjena v trajnostni razvoj, se pa zavedamo, da nas čaka še kar nekaj izzivov, saj se ne želimo ustaviti na tej točki, pač pa kakovost življenja in zavedanje trajnostnega razvoja dvigniti še na višji nivo,« je dejal župan Občine Kamnik Matej Slapar.

»Kamnik je v Strategiji trajnostne rasti slovenskega turizma opredeljena kot vodilna destinacija v osrednji Sloveniji, s pridobitvijo zlatega znaka pa smo se samo še bolje pozicionirali na slovenskem, evropskem in globalnem trgu,« ob tem pravi Nina Irt, zelena koordinatorka zelene ekipe in dodaja: »Želja nas na Zavodu za turizem in šport Kamnik pa je, da bi miselnost - biti destinacija naklonjena trajnostnemu razvoju - ponotranjili vsi: javni sektor, gospodarstvo, nevladne organizacije in nenazadnje tudi občanke in občani.«

Kamnik's green story

The Slovenian Tourist Organization and the Sustainable Tourism Factory have awarded the Slovenia Green Destination Gold label to the Municipality of Kamnik. In 2016, the municipality of Kamnik obtained the silver mark of a green destination, and in the process of renewing the mark in 2019, the evaluation commission concluded that Kamnik is one of the evaluated destinations that is "the most advanced" and therefore deserves a gold mark. Until then, six destinations, Ljubljana, Podčetrtek, Bled, Rogaška Slatina, Komen and Miren Kars, had the gold label Slovenia Green Destination.

The Slovenian Tourist Organization awards the Slovenia Green Destination mark on the basis of the Green Scheme of Slovenian Tourism. It is a system aimed at promoting the development of sustainable tourism in the environmental, social and economic fields. At the same time, I would like to thank all the tourist providers who follow us on this journey, and all those who participated in the process of restoring the sign. With the development of green tourism, the Municipality of Kamnik will be even more recognized on the domestic and foreign markets. But we must realize that sustainable development is a path and not a goal. I myself believe that we can achieve even more in this area."

The eco-oriented Terme Snovik, which years ago was the first in Slovenia to receive the EU daisy environmental mark, and also the Slovenia Green Accommodation mark at the Slovenian Tourism Days, also make an outstanding contribution to green, sustainable Kamnik. In 2020, the internationally recognized Green Key environmental mark was also obtained by the provider of accommodation in cottages on the Velika planina, Pravljica na Velika planina, owned by Rok Virag.

The process of restoring the sign was led by a green team, directed and coordinated by Nina Irt, green coordinator at the Kamnik Institute of Tourism and Sport. "The gold mark of Slovenia Green Destination shows that the municipality of Kamnik is oriented towards sustainable development, but we are aware that there are still quite a few challenges ahead of us, as we do not want to stop at this point, but rather raise the quality of life and awareness of sustainable development to a higher level," said the mayor of Kamnik Municipality, Matej Slapar.
